Do you think that she will ever be a good loper?

QUESTION: 

My mare is 4 she had 3 month of WP training, but is still not loping. She is a spread-out canter. type. The trainer said she was probably just not strong enough to collect at the age of 2 1/2 when she was there. What do you suggest? She can jog a hole in the ground. I actually can walk beside her. Do you think that she will ever be a good loper, enough to show? Thanks

Hi Kacee, without looking at your mare or riding her, there is no way I can honestly give you an answer to your question. You can always send me a videotape of her and I could better evaluate her with something that I could actually see. Remember that not all horses are born to be pleasure horses and there might be another event for her to compete in, such as reining, roping, horsemanship, showmanship, trail, etc. Western pleasure just happens to be one event out of many possibilities. If you want to send a tape, I would be glad to look at it.
